Vortex 1 Raceway (Tomy AFX) being demolished to make way for Vortex 2 view here
Craig Jones from Sydney is the owner / builder of ‘Vortex 1 Raceway’ (now demolished), a four lane Tomy track that featured almost 100 sections of straight and a number of 18" curves. There were nine power taps with 100 metres of cable keeping the power up from the Dick Smith 16 volt (25 amp) Power Supply.
All straights had been allen keyed down to ply strips, or a wooden base, with the banked curves having numerous supports in the top, middle, and bottom. The ‘Vortex’ banked donut had a fully adjustable slotted spine.
There was no organised racing, just some fun competition between friends. Cars raced included Wizzard Patriot Mini Modifieds and Tomy Super G+.
